Henry Chen, Iaan and I drove into Jacobsbay the afternoon of the 18th of December. It was a windy but sunny day and the skies were super blue. It’s something I absolutely love about the west coast. Blue skies! In the little town were white washed houses scattered everywhere, overlooking the ocean. In the distance [...]
To see the first part of the wedding visit my previous post.
The photos everyone has been waiting for is finally here! As mentioned in my previous post I had the privelage to photography Ryan Graham’s another wedding photographer’s wedding on the 17th of December.
If you get back home after a shoot and edit all the images straight away, you have to know: This was a GOOD shoot! And this is exactly what I did yesterday after coming back form Getha and Llewellyn’s e-session.
Llewellyn is the friend and videographer of Ricky & Marinelle (this is still on my very old blg :), one of my first weddings in Yzerfontein. I met Llewellyn at the wedding and we just clicked. He has such a good sense for business and is a phenomenal entrepreneur
Saturday I had the privilege to shoot Anli & Roan’s wedding at the new venue Molenvliet in Stellenbosch. The couple booked me for an engagement shoot a few months ago and it made such a difference on the wedding day! The interaction between photographer and client was so much more relaxed and I’d definitely encourage couples to look at this option. I have said this before, but by doing an engagement shoot you not only get used to the camera, but you also give your photographer the opportunity to get to know you.
You’ll probably recognize this couple from my first workshop shoot. Nicola and Wynand are in the same church as me and on Tuesdays we get together with them and some other couples from our church for coffee and to chat about life. Through these get togethers I’ve gotten to know the and we’ve become close friends. They are such a fun and loving couple! It was such a privilege to shoot their wedding on Saturday! And not just any wedding. My 100th wedding!
The wedding was held in Wellington, where Nicola grew up and the reception was held on a stunning new venue Kleine Valleij. The reception area is super white and clean! No curtains or carpets. Just white! White floors & white ceiling! Stunning. It’s like a blank canvas. You can do anything you like with it! (A definite one to check out if you’re still looking for a venue.)
Not only was Nicola a super beautiful bride, but she also has a very good eye for detail and all the decor was just perfect! I love the old books and the French ribbon touch on the tables.
The week before the wedding she emailed me and asked if she could bring a chair as a “prop” for the photos. I love how it created different pose opportunities for the couple shots. We also had some fun with some “nerd glasses” :) Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it was so funny!
Thanks for being so much fun guys! I loved being a part of your special day!
There is probably no huger blessing a photographer can ask for on a wedding day, than perfect light and a couple that is highly in love. Tuesday I did a wedding shoot at the Shore House in a private Nature Reserve called Jakkalsfontein on the West Coast. NEVER EVER have I seen anything like the sky that day. It was absolutely perfect. No wind, some sunlight during the ceremony and then just towards the end of the shoot in the sky formed small clouds. They looked like little bunches of candy floss. Seriously, it was perfect!
I arrived at La Petite Dauphine where she got dressed and she was glowing! I could see that she was super excited about her wedding and that’s always a good thing! I checked out a few spots for photos and the bathroom grabbed my attention. I loved the stone wall
The past few weeks has been the worst weather Cape Town has probably ever experienced! From gail force winds that was reported as a Hurricane to the boiling heat of today. It rained for a whole week, so much so that I had to pull out my coats and boots! And it’s November, it’s surpose to be summer!
I met Adii about 2 years ago over a cup of coffee. He was the mastermind behind my previous website. Adii together with Magnus Jepson and Mark Forrester are the founders of the incredible WooThemes. These 3 entrepreneurs started WooThemes a few years ago. Adii lives in South Africa, Magnus in Norway and Mark in the UK and as far as I know they got together for the first time this year! How incredible is that! Love it!
