As promised, here are some behind the scene photos of last month’s workshop. Thank you so much to everyone that attended and also a big thank you to Maree Louw from Natural light Photography for taking these photos.
Anneri and Pieter met at University in Stellenbosch. They booked me for their wedding in March 2011 and afterwards decided that they want to do an engagement shoot as well. Funny thing is, the first three times we tried to do their shoot the weather was just no good. So we had to postpone it every time. Last week I woke up to some clouds and wind and couldn’t believe that we might have to cancel again, but this time it cleared up and we had a gorgeous shoot on Pieter’s family farm.
Pretty things make me so excited! I did my embracing ‘happy dance’ once I downloaded these images, because it was just SOOOO PRETTY!!!
Nicola and I spoke about the idea of doing some styled shoots for The Pretty Blog some time ago and now it finally became a reality. This theme was ‘Boere chick” in our fields of gold. The shoot was done in a big open field on a friend of our’s farm. The grass was nice and long and poor iaan struggled with hay fever, as he helped with the setup. But he didn’t mind the sacrifice, all in the name of ‘pretty things’ :)
When I looked at my calendar, I saw I had two couples this month with the names Andreas and Nina. At first I thought it was a mistake, but then I realized I actually had two couples with the same names. And they were both from Germany. How strange :)
Nina and Andreas got married in Germany last month, but decided to fly their wedding clothes all the way to South Africa, to take some more pictures in Cape Town, on their honeymoon. I met them at the Fire and Ice hotel in Cape Town. One of the most funky hotels in the city.
For their shoot, I tried to include some city landscape, as well as the gorgeous sunsets we have here in the Western Cape. I love the one lucky shot, where the birds flew over them as I took the photo. :)
This morning when iaan and I came back from our jog, we opened up our Macs and with a very sad face, we realized that one of the geniuses of our time passed away. Steve Jobs was a genius and the Apple world will miss him.
It’s funny how, when you don’t really know someone, but you appreciate what they do/did, you feel you had some sort of relationship with them. I definitely have a very strong relationship with anything Apple. And Apple has made my life much easier. As a design lover, techie geek and photo enthusiast, I’m sad to see someone like Steve Jobs go.
When Buro opened their doors in Stellenbosch (an local apple retailer), I read this quote on their walls and I loved it. And today would probably be the best day to share it with you. It comes from the Original Apple campaign in 1997.
Today I’m going to share some behind the scene photos of my last wedding photography workshop here in Stellenbosch. The photos were taken through the two day workshop, last month, by the awesome Claudia De Nobrega from VDA STUDIOS. Amongst some exciting other things, I’m preparing for next week’s workshop and I though this might be a little taste of what next weeks photographers can look forward to :)
And with these great photos, I’m going to open up an opportunity to you. If you’re a photographer, and you’ve always wanted to attend one of my workshops, here is an opportunity….I’m giving away one spot for someone at next week’s workshop.
It’s was one of those weddings where I just knew it was going to be a fun one. When you meet the bride and she greets you with a smile, with no worries, no fuss, then you know – this is going to be a fun one! I love relaxed brides. They create some sense of freedom for photographers. They let you be. They let you create. And they let you see.
An then, on top of being an awesome relaxed couple, this wedding has quite a fun story. Christal and Anders decided to have a surprise wedding on Glen beach in Cape Town, only about a week ago! Yes, one week! Luckily for them, they got hold of Kate from Wedding Concepts to organize the whole thing in only seven days.
Nina and Michael dreamed of seeing South Africa and in the process get married on a beach on the coast of Africa. This dream came true when they said their vows on a private beach at Grootbos. I’ve never visited Grootbos before, but I’m definitely going back! It’s a gorgeous five star lodge, in a nature reserve on the [...]
As our anniversary month approaches next month, I’m looking back at 12 months of absolute bliss! I know we stay this quite often, but I can’t believe it’s been almost a year ago! And what a lovely reminder of our happy day, when our wedding was featured in the latest Sarie Bruid. Sarie Bruid is definitely one of my favourite wedding magazines. Thanks to the editor and team for featuring my and iaan’s wedding. It’s a privilege to be associated with such a gorgeous edition!
Styled shoots are on of my favourite things to photograph and seems to be one of the highlights of my workshops. As soon as I downloaded these photos I couldn’t wait to blog them! I love the simplistic colours Betina’s hairpiece is to die for!
In the beginning of September I did a workshop with 10 girls here in Stellenbosch. The workshop was a fun, informal two days with loads of talking, discussing and some shooting. In my workshops I share a lot about my business and talk through all the issues and questions photographers have regarding the business of wedding photography.
