Whenever iaan and I want to go out for dinner the first place that come to our mind is Cognito Restaurant7 in Stellenbosch. It’s by far the best combination of good food, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
One of the owners, Diani had a little girl a few months ago and so I had the privilege to photograph her. Isn’t she just totally adorable!!
Anna & Dirk celebrated their wedding with friend and family from all around the world on the stunning Grand Provence Estate in Franschhoek.
I could probably tell you their proposal story, but how much better can you get than the bride telling you the story herself :)
If you love “old school cool”, you’d want everything in Lucy’s house. Lucy lives in Wellington and when I did their first family shoot I thought I was going to faint, just because she has so many cool props around her house. Lucy and her husband, Duan bought a old farm house and renovated it. The house is surrounded with the most beautiful pots, chairs and everything else a photographer could dream of.
This year Lucy asked me to come and shoot her sister and together with all 3 kids. So we played around and had some fun..
I got all excited when Yolandé told me about her new baby: An online magazine called “Life, Love and Weddings”. If you’re a fan of beautiful things, this one is a must read! Yolandé and her team has been working on this for months and when she finally sent me the link I was blown away by the beautiful feeling they created through out the magazine. This winter issue is inspired by Estelle’s gorgeous farm wedding. It’s all about vintage, farm decor, yummy recipes, and stunning bridal inspiration. This magazine is viewable online for free and can also be ordered on cd if you have a slow connection :)
Here are a few pages with my photos and the cover shot…*happy dance*!!
A big thank you to Yolandé and her team for the professional manner in which they handeled my images and for the amazing service! You guys are going to go a long way!
Sharlene & Rene celebrated their love under the trees of the sundial garden at Simon’s at Groot Constantia. I met up with Sharlene and the girls where they got dressed at the 12 Apostele’s Hotel in Camps Bay. Thereafter we drove over the mountain towards the Constantia.
I totally have the best clients ever! Every time I receive an email or a thank you or a little note, I smile. And in some or other special way I feel like a friend rather than their photographer when I leave the wedding. And this wedding was no different! Lindi & Anton enquired for their wedding a few months ago and unfortunately I was booked, but then Anton said they were going to move the wedding to a date that I was available. Wow.
Gemma has the sweetest smile. When she looks at me I can see she’s actually a little shy, but that’s what makes me love her so much! She is just Gemma, no one else. As soon as Cobus becomes a part of the photos she forgets all about the camera staring at her and she looks at him. He’s her safe place and he makes her feel at home.
I think this is what any relationship should be like. Your partner should make you feel at ease, make you feel comfortable and most of all, make you feel loved. This is exactly what Cobus does.
I met Adii a few years ago and since then iaan and I have become friends with him and his beautiful fiance Jeanne. I’ve done a few shoots for Adii as well as his company WooThemes, but when he asked me to shoot his wedding I was super excited! Adii and Jeanne are two every down to earth individuals. They love a great dinner and spending time together. When we planned their engagement shoot I suggested a kitchen and something fun.
About a year ago I got booked for Kyle & Salome’s wedding in Durban. The wedding took place over the easter weekend and seeing that I haven’t really spent time in Durban, iaan and I decided to stay in Durban for the whole weekend. And then I indicated the visit to Durban on my online calendar.
Melissa then saw that I was going to be in Durban over that weekend and asked me to shoot her wedding at Lynton Hall. Lynton Hall is about 1 hours drive from Durban on the South Coast. The venue is an old colonial style building with a very lush garden, it looked like fairies could live in those trees. The streaks of sunlight was soooo amazing! The ceremony was held under a huge tree and the reception was under a fairy light lit beduin tent in the garden.
Over the easter weekend, iaan and I flew to Durban to shoot Salome & Kyle’s wedding at Zimbali. Iaan and I arrived on the airport and with very little knowledge of that Durban looks like or where everything is, we picked up our rental car and that’s where the journey began. It’s so strange to drive around in a place where you have no idea where anything is. So we had to rely 100% on my little Garmin GPS. To be honest, I don’t think he felt so familiar in Durban either, but after a few random turn we finally got onto the N2 and headed to Zimbali to meet Salome and Kyle. Salome & Kyle are both originally from Durban, but currently live in the UK.
