Kaycee is one of those super friendly bubbly people! Our first contact was via email. She found my blog through Photo.net and sent me a super sweet email to tell me how much she loved my work. Those always make me smile and she totally made my day! I couldn’t believe that anyone from New York was actually looking at my work!
Since then Kaycee has been following my work and claims to be one of my biggest fans. When she heard I was coming to the USA she booked a couple shoot with me in New York.
We met in the lobby of our hotel and it was like I knew her. So strange when you finally meet someone you’ve been in contact with for some time, but never physically met before. Kaycee couldn’t stop laughing and made me feel at ease straight away. We headed to Times Square to take a few pics and then headed downtown with the subway. After the shoot we ended up in Starbucks talking about Lightroom, editing, marketing and everything else, over a cup of steaming Vanilla Latte’s :)
I can’t believe Kaycee has only been shooting weddings for about a year. Her work is soooo beautiful! You have to check out her blog!
Was great meeting you Kaycee! I hope you enjoy the photos…
I met Adii about 2 years ago over a cup of coffee. He was the mastermind behind my previous website. Adii together with Magnus Jepson and Mark Forrester are the founders of the incredible WooThemes. These 3 entrepreneurs started WooThemes a few years ago. Adii lives in South Africa, Magnus in Norway and Mark in the UK and as far as I know they got together for the first time this year! How incredible is that! Love it!
Two weekends ago Adri and I drove through to Lizelle’s family farm in Caledon. Lizelle invited us for a delicious South Afican braai (barbecue). We sat in the sun, drove around on the farm and just chilled out.
As you know I specialize in wedding and portrait photography and I’m not quite sure if “corporate stock photography” falls into that category, but I’m always up for a challenge!
So this time it was my turn to be in front of the camera…And now I understand what all my clients must feel like when I come up right in their faces with my 50mm :) But it’s always worth it!
When I met Monica for the first time I instantly knew this relationship was going to become a friendship! Monica is one of the most down to earth an friendly photographers I know in the industry!
I recently blogged about my friend João, also known as J’something. He is an amazing artist and has a super awesome voice! He is magically talented and as I said previously, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, you guys have competition on its way! So it you like acoustic music, join J’something’s fan page on facebook to be updated about his cd releases. João is going big!
Last weekend we decided to do something fun, unplanned and this is what happened*…
*Side note: Sunset is soooo the best time to take photos!
My little sister, Lydia asked me to do a shoot of her and her best friend Marelize. If you know my sister, you’ll definitely agree that he constantly has a smile on her face! She is super friendly and loves people!
Nadia met Henriette in Stellenbosch, where they both studied. A few years after Henriette moved to Paris to finish her studies in fashion design. When Nadia and I was over in Paris, Henriette invited us over for a dinner at her place. Just before the sun set (around 9h30 pm!) we took a few snaps in the streets of Paris.
I met Eva at the Little Pink Book launch party. When I saw her I knew she’d make stunning photos. Eva studied hotel management in Holland. She had to do a internship for a few months and decided to come to South Africa. For the past few months she’s been helping Lisa, form Talk functions.
Last week I did a portrait session with Eva in Stellenbosch. I chose the burned down mountain as a backdrop for the shoot. Iaan and Adri helped me out. Iaan was on the “lighting team” and Adri was co-ordinating “lens change department”. (some behind the scene footage will be posted later this week)
