Karin & Jethro (Zorgvliet)

Karin & Jethro got married at Zorgvliet Estate in Stellenbosch on the 9th of May. They were really lucky to have great weather for their wedding. The sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky. This was my first wedding at Zorgvliet and I enjoyed working on the Estate. I’d definitely recommend this to venue to brides. The guesthouse, chapel and reception area is all on one estate and it worked really well. The food was great and so was the staff.

Ravi & Nadine (One&Only, Cape Town)

I was very fortunate to shoot the first wedding at the famous One&Only Cape Town in the W&A Waterfront. Nadine is originally from Namibia and Ravi is a Cape Town boy. They had their wedding ceremony at the St Margaret Mary in Green Point. The church was really white and had great light! Any photographer’s dream. There after we left for the One&Only Cape Town, where I did all the other shots.

For the food lovers out there: the food was outstanding! You have to go and visit their restaurant maze, owned by Gordon Ramsay.

Ava: 7 weeks old.

Little Ava had her first professional photo shoot on 7 weeks old. She is so tiny, but absolutely adorable! I photographed her with her mom and dad last friday at their home in Gordon’s Bay.
How cute are these:

Jan-Harm & Frida

If I remember correctly Doelie and I made about 4 bookings, before we eventually got together to photograph her two kids. With winter drawing near it becomes more and more difficult to get good weather for family shoots.

Eva

I met Eva at the Little Pink Book launch party. When I saw her I knew she’d make stunning photos. Eva studied hotel management in Holland. She had to do a internship for a few months and decided to come to South Africa. For the past few months she’s been helping Lisa, form Talk functions.

Last week I did a portrait session with Eva in Stellenbosch. I chose the burned down mountain as a backdrop for the shoot. Iaan and Adri helped me out. Iaan was on the “lighting team” and Adri was co-ordinating “lens change department”. (some behind the scene footage will be posted later this week)

Mel & Chris (engagement session)

Well this has to be the most beautiful, intimate shots I’ve ever gotten from an engagement shoot. I can’t stop staring at them. Ok, I know this sounds really vain, but hey, I’m aloud to be excited about my photos right??

Mel & Chris (the video)

Friday I did an engagement shoot for my friends Mel & Chris. I’ve driven past this spot a few times and I’ve pictured this shoot, but didn’t think it will turn out so great! I have to confess this is my favourite couple shoot so far. It was so easy to photograph them, because they were so relaxed. The cloudy sky made everything perfect. I believe overcast weather is God’s massive soft box. Just love it!

I’ve been meaning to shoot video clips with my new canon 5D, but never seem to have the time to work it in. Here I did my first experiment. Now please remember I’m not a videographer or a video editor and this is my first attempt to creating such a combination. But with only the on board mic and no tripod I think this is pretty good. (You’ll even hear a cow in the background) I shot this shoot with only my 24-70mm 2.8F on my canon 5D Mark 2.

Marisa & Leonardo (Lanzerac, Stellenbosch)

Marisa and I have been friends since primary school. I can hardly believe that she’s Mrs now. She was my first friend from school to get married. It was such a joy to photograph her day.

This week it’s been raining all week and I was pretty sure Saturday wasn’t going to be any different. I woke up and it was dark clouds everywhere…not the best for photographs, but never the less I decided to make the best of it and I grabbed some umbrellas. Loaded my car with jackets, boots and a studio light set incase it came poring down and we had to shoot inside. But at the end it wasn’t raining at all..just very dark and cloudy.

Liz & Will (Morgenhof, Stellenbosch)

While I was shooting Liz’s portrait photos, my assistant pointed out that she alot like pink. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but Michelle was right. She has quite similar features. But much more glamorous! I loved her interesting head piece. I gave a cool element to the photos.

This wedding was the first one to taste my new 24-70mm 2.8F. Till now I’ve been shooting with the 24-105mm 4F. as an all rounder, but I absolutely love this 2.8F! It makes a huge difference and I don’t know how I did it without this lens!

Ian & Liz (Allee Bleue, Franschoek)

Ian & Liz have been living in the UK for quite some time now, but when it came to their big day there was no place like home! Liz and Ian met me a few months ago when they came over to plan their wedding day. With the help of wedding co-ordinator Michelle (form Allee Bleue) everything worked out perfectly. The wedding ceremony was held in a little stone church in Villiersdorp. The church looked brand new, but the minister explained to me that it has burned down 3 times before! They just rebuild it and was adding more to the building as they can afford it. The ceremony was opened by an African Choir and that african voice inside of me was touched. The choir was all the way form Guguleto a township close to Cape Town. The choir preforms at weddings and other events for charity. Loved it!
