This morning I started editing Hayley & Steven’s wedding photos when I came across these photos I took of Hayley’s brother and his wife, the day before Hayley’s wedding. The reason for the shoot was to get some natural shots of the two of them, since their photographer at their wedding (earlier this year) made a bit of a boo boo of their photos. To be honest, the wind and weather was not on our side and as the dark clouds started rolling in, I just prayer for better weather the next day (for Hayley & Steven’s wedding). But even thought the wind was everywhere, I just asked them to smile, walk, laugh and do the simple things that will show me a bit more of their personalities. Sometimes it’s good just to keep things simple. And then when I edited them into black and white I fell in love with the shots. Simple. Real. Honest.
This coming weekend I’m shooting Christelle & Heinrich’s wedding at Langverwacht. To get to know each other we met for a fun shoot in the streets of Stellenbosch. It was a hot summer’s day and the perfect conditions to go by the ice-cream shop…
I’m shooting Andy & Victoria’s wedding in 2011, but on their visit to South Africa this month I did a engagement shoot for them. I love Victoria’s cute smile!
I met Louise in a little coffee bar in London a few months ago. We had a cup of coffee and chatted about their wedding day. We shared some ideas and talked about flowers and colours schemes. Then she mentioned that she and Andre, her fiance, would be in South Africa in November to check out their wedding venue. And so I set up a engagement shoot for them. The wind was crazy on the day, but we still had some fun in the little harbor of Stuisbaai :)
I’ll do a shoot of Nadia & Ryan any day! They couldn’t stop smiling & making jokes. I had so much fun! Can’t wait to shoot their wedding over the coming weekend! Woop woop!
I can’t believe it’s almost a month ago that I ran the London Funshop! Wow, time flies when you’re organizing a wedding :) The London Funshop was an amazing time for me. I got to know 10 awesome girls and had some shooting fun with them in the east end of London. This was my first international workshop and I hope to have more in the future. I wanted to theme this workshop with red details, because when I think of London, I think of red busses and red postboxes.
Some people you meet, you hang out and you just know they’re going to be your friends. Julia and Nik were exactly those kinda people! The night before the couple shoot they invited us for dinner, to chat and meet each other.
We chatted about the shoot and I asked them what kind of photos they were looking for. They just said relaxed and fun. Then I asked them what kind of things they love to do. What do they like. What makes them, “them”?
Today iaan and I spent a few hours in the streets of Munich. In the morning I headed out with Laura Evans to shoot some pics of the surroundings and then later, in the afternoon, I did a couple shoot for Julia & Nikolai. Julia & Nik are one of those super cool, but cute couples. They are simply awesome to spend time with and after only 2 dinners, they already feel like long-time friends of ours.
Janette & Patrick live in Johannesburg, but Janette decided to spoil her husband with a weekend down in the Cape to celebrated their 20 year anniversary. Congratulation on a wonderful milestone guys! May there be many more! x
I got all excited when Yolandé told me about her new baby: An online magazine called “Life, Love and Weddings”. If you’re a fan of beautiful things, this one is a must read! Yolandé and her team has been working on this for months and when she finally sent me the link I was blown away by the beautiful feeling they created through out the magazine. This winter issue is inspired by Estelle’s gorgeous farm wedding. It’s all about vintage, farm decor, yummy recipes, and stunning bridal inspiration. This magazine is viewable online for free and can also be ordered on cd if you have a slow connection :)
Here are a few pages with my photos and the cover shot…*happy dance*!!
A big thank you to Yolandé and her team for the professional manner in which they handeled my images and for the amazing service! You guys are going to go a long way!
