Yesterday I met Ava. She was so tiny, I was scared to touch her! Apparently she only weighed a little more than 2kg when she was born. Ava was only 2 weeks old when I photographed her. Every time I photograph a baby I realize how amazing life is!
Little Ava had her first professional photo shoot on 7 weeks old. She is so tiny, but absolutely adorable! I photographed her with her mom and dad last friday at their home in Gordon’s Bay. How cute are these:
If I remember correctly Doelie and I made about 4 bookings, before we eventually got together to photograph her two kids. With winter drawing near it becomes more and more difficult to get good weather for family shoots.
I was busy cleaning up my desktop and then I found some of these pics. I love them and I realized I never posted them. So here they are. You might remember the pregnancy shoot I did with Marina some time ago. This is her little boy a week after his birth.
In december I had 1 week of holiday with my family in Herrold’s Bay. I had the opportunity to do a few shots with my cousin Jaco. He is such a sweet little thing! He is almost two years old. I must admit it was quite challenging taking portraits of him. He was very busy and I just had to snap away. All these shots were naturally posed and just shot as he moved.
I photographed Lise and Cara about a year ago. I couldn’t believe how they have grown! These two little ones are just to cute!!!
Then we took them to the beach…
I had so much fun with these little ones. It’s quite a story to get photos of 5 kids, with 3 of them being below the age of 3! But I absolutely adore these photos…They were all takes against a white wall in Steffie’s house in Plettenberg Bay. The house is a big open space with lots of windows and it was the perfect canvas to work against.
Lucy was so excited for the shoot, it even excited me :) Their house was spectacular! It is an old farm house and they are renovating it as time goes by. What a pleasure to use for photographs! There were so many props to work with that I took about 900 images! I hardly ever take more than 250 and then normally narrow it down to the best 60 – 80, but Lucy will have at least 150 – 200 stunning ones to choose from!
When I do family shoots or shoots of children I always go to the people’s house. I find it works much better, especially because the kids are much more relaxed in their own environment. For a photographer it’s also much more interesting than a studio, because each house is different and you have to be creative with what you have available.
