Whenever iaan and I want to go out for dinner the first place that come to our mind is Cognito Restaurant7 in Stellenbosch. It’s by far the best combination of good food, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
One of the owners, Diani had a little girl a few months ago and so I had the privilege to photograph her. Isn’t she just totally adorable!!
If you love “old school cool”, you’d want everything in Lucy’s house. Lucy lives in Wellington and when I did their first family shoot I thought I was going to faint, just because she has so many cool props around her house. Lucy and her husband, Duan bought a old farm house and renovated it. The house is surrounded with the most beautiful pots, chairs and everything else a photographer could dream of.
This year Lucy asked me to come and shoot her sister and together with all 3 kids. So we played around and had some fun..
Alexé and Raynie are close friends of ours and their little baby boy, Obet-Eden was born in April. Iaan and I arrived at their home and I literally had to stop the tears from flowing. Life is so beautiful! I held him in my arms, only 5 days old and it was the most incredible feeling I could describe. A new life…a new hope…a new adventure ahead. Congratulations to Raynie and Alexé on your beautiful baby boy!
Danielle and her husband Estefan got married on the island of Bali a few months ago. But after returning they never expected to see such a sad face…Danielle’s sister’s little one was very upset that she never got to be a flower girl. After careful consideration, Danielle decided to get back into her dress, get all dolled up and take some more photos with her family and her flower girl here in Cape Town…what a cool idea :)
Giving is one thing I feel very strongly about. I know for a fact I have sooo much to be grateful for and giving back is one thing I can to to help other people. My friend Adii, Mr Rockstar himself, started the Rockstar Foundation a few months ago. This non-profit organization provides full academic bursaries to exceptionally bright young girls from impoverished and disadvantaged communities in Cape Town, South Africa.
Anna and her family live just up the street from me. One afternoon I met them up in the vineyards for a family shoot. Anna was very shy at first, but as all little one’s they just need to gain some confidence and see you are interested in them. Soon she started smiling and making all sorts of jokes. Some fun shots of her and her family…
Last week I photographed the Herbst family for their yearly family shoot. I arrived at their beautiful new home and in the door stood Lise and Cara in their pink fairy outfits! Waiting to be photographed.
I recently did a family shoot in Stellenbosch for the Mouton family. I made these photo combination suggestions for her, as she wants to order some canvas prints. I really love these combinations and white space is super awesome!
Two years ago I photographed Juan. He’s a natural in front of the camera! At that stage Francois wasn’t born yet and yesterday I had the privilege to photograph both of the little boys at their home in Stellenbosch.
I recently did some fun family photos of the Basson Family. Here are a few of the two little boys running around on the grass..
