I was already fast asleep last night when iaan woke me up and said: “Wake up, time to look at our wedding photos!” I thought he was crazy, but then when I realized what was happening I was up straight away! Julie posted part one of our wedding photos on her blog last night. I grabbed a few of my absolute favourites, but the rest you can see on her blog.
After Louise and Leverne’s wedding (coming soon!), Iaan and I had a glorious two weeks on a road trip through Namibia. Neither of us had been there before, but have always wanted to see the amazing landscapes people told us about.
We drove a few hundred, if not thousand kilometers in those two weeks, but it was worth every kilometer. The skyline, landscapes and sunsets were amazing. We saw so many animals and really up close!! Africa is just a magical place! And my heart will always be in Africa.
We’re home. Yes, I’m saying WE, cause we’re now two under one roof :). It’s a strange feeling at first. Feels like we’re still on holiday, but the best is when I realize he’s here to stay. Forever!
I believe we all know the quote: “No matter where life takes you, never forget where you came from.”
This is one thing that has stuck by me since I started my business. It’s so easy to forget the day of small beginnings, but I hope I never ever forget where I came from. I love looking back. Looking at my first logo, my first business card, my non-existing blog and website :) and then I smile, because most of us start somewhere around there.
I just had to let you know…yesterday I had my first dress fitting! And now you all want to know who’s making the dress right? Well, it’s Zani & Erna from the new company Lace Blossom! Du Wayne, Zani’s husband and close friend of mine, did an amazing shoot for the launch of their site. Check it out on his blog.
Sometimes I wish I could just press the pause button. Look around, see the world standing still and then I will have enough time to do everything I have to and want to do. If I have to explain the past few months in words, it would include: crazy, awesome, exciting, wonderful, out of the ordinary and a total roll a coaster ride!
I have a little confession to make: while organising my own wedding, I’ve realised that there was a little girl inside of me. One that wants to laugh, dance and have fun. One that wants to dream, wants to sing (even though it’s only any good in the shower :) and one that wants to dance with no worries in the world. No worries about work or grown-up stuff, just play and have a cupcake!
I love change, new things and taking risks. But when I say I love risks, I mean business risks, new ideas and just jumping in to see if it works. Not jumping off a bridge or racing down a mountain with a bike, no that is iaan! not me :)
Today in 90 days, I’ll be mrs Van Niekerk. I just had to make a post of this..it’s short, but super sweet! I found these pictures of iaan and me in Berlin on my computer. We tried to take some self portraits with the SLR camera and it seems to be quite a difficult thing. Almost every single shot was out of focus. But that was part of the fun.
