On wednesday i had a very importaint appointment in my diary. Coffee with my granny. My granny lives in the Strand and has for many years. She is a wonderful woman and i love her dearly! Every time i shoot a wedding i realize how scarce it is to still have grand parents around and how lucky i am to still have a granny close by.
When iaan and I went on honeymoon, I decided to take along only a little point and shoot camera. I find that my SLR is just too big when I travel. I don’t always feel like carrying such a big camera around. So, I recently bought myself a canon S95, to keep in my handbag for those [...]
I love birthdays! When I was a little girl, my parents use to wake me up with balloons and presents, walking into the room, singing Happy Birthday.
This Friday started a bit different. :) Iaan and I got back from the USA the Thursday and we we’re totally jet lagged the Friday! We woke up the Friday being a bit disorientated and when we were finally up, iaan made me a yummy breakfast. It was my first birthday being married and it was awesome! Knowing my best friend was there eventhough I felt jetlagged was great :)
He feels about his shoes, the way I feel about my jeans. Unless it says ‘black tie’, you wear it with EVERYTHING you can. When you go shopping for an alternative or replacement, you never find something quite as comfortable as the ones you already have. It’s been worn in. It carries a part of you. But then he pitched up at a dinner party with those shoes. I looked at him and he knew what I was thinking. He gave me that guilty smile and then I said it: “You seriously need new shoes!”
Since I’ve known iaan, he had those sneakers. They are worn. I know “worn” is a style, but that worn? I don’t think so.
Iaan and I are very honored to be featured on Southern Wedding’s today and that’s why I thought it might be a good idea to finally write a post to all the people who made the day possible.
This blog post is a massive hug, kiss and billboard sized THANK YOU to all the fabulous people who helped out at our wedding and made it an absolute dream come true! All of you have made such a great effort to make it my and iaan’s best day ever and you definitely did it!
When dreams come true I cry. I just can’t help it. I was watching American idol last night and every time someone went through to the next round I caught myself with the biggest smile ever and tears rolling down my cheek. It’s just so beautiful, so exciting. I can’t help it.
This weekend I also experienced a “dream come true” story. On Saturday my sister, Lydia, was one of the student’s who’s designs was on the cavendish square fashion show. It was only one outfit, but I was so excited for her! It was the first time her designs was on a catwalk and it was so overwhelming knowing her dreams are coming true.
Iaan and I returned from my last wedding shoot for 2010 last night. And now we’re running around the house to make sure we don’t forget anything for our Christmas holiday. In South Africa December holiday’s mean sun, beach and barbecues. This is also my first Christmas as a married lady, so we’re spending the first week with Iaan’s family and the send with mine.
At first Iaan and I decided not to have a wedding video. To be 100% honest, most wedding videos just doesn’t appeal to me. But then I reconsidered 2 weeks before our wedding. I realized this day was going to be the one day I don’t want to miss a thing. I want to experience everything! And most of all I want something that can capture the emotion in motion. Photos do capture emotion, but in a totally different way. Photos are static, but the movement of a video is something totally different.
Now this might seem very vain, but yeh, who would ever say no to a second honeymoon right? So here is my and iaan’s chance…I just submitted some of our photos to the SA Wedding;s Bride of the Year Competition. (To all brides, you have to enter!! Loads of yummy prizes up for grabs!!)
So if you want to vote for me and iaan, please sms VOTE 11648 to 36697 (R5 per sms)
It’s been a long time since I posted something personal. I love blogging and sharing thoughts. And when I do most of them will probably be on one of the following topics: my family, business, photography, pretty things or pretty places. So if you’re a bride, I suggest you skip this one and jump over to my recent weddings, but if you’re a business owner, start out photographer or have any interest in my random thoughts, enjoy the post :)
