iphoneography exhibition | Santon

We were just about to start another KIKI TV show when I received the email. I was so excited! Some of my Iphone photos were chosen to be exhibited in Johannesburg!

Just the week before, Iaan forwarded an article to me from Mark Forrest’s blog about the first ever Iphoneography exhibition taking place in Santon, Johannesburg. As you all know, I’m a HUGE Apple fan and I love (ok maybe I’m more addicted to) my Iphone. I love all the functions, but the camera and instant editing rocks my world!

Holland Workshop | Part 3

The yellow inspiration from my workshop continued into a gorgeous styled couple shoot on Landgoed Te Werve. Nelleke and Marinus were the very brave models for the shoot, they got married in May 2011 and had the opportunity to once again, get dressed up and relive their special day. Thank you guys for posing for us! I really appreciate your willingness! Standing in front of 13 cameras and 3 videographers is not a joke :) You guys were perfect! Then I want to share some very exciting news :) For the first time ever we filmed my workshop! Thank you to the fabulous team of Ryan de Wit of Unicorn Wedding Films for the gorgeous movie! You can view the movie at the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

Holland Workshop | Part 2

Yellow has never been one of my favourite colours, but some time ago I saw some yellow inspiration and then I thought the yellow and grey theme could be quite a fun one to photograph. Consequently, when it came to choosing a colour theme for my Holland workshop in Den Haag last month I decided yellow was going to be the colour. At the workshop I shared on how to shoot details and get the best result from different angles. I believe details is a very important part of any wedding. The details help to tell the story of the couple and their personality. I absolutely love details! :)

Holland Workshop | Part 1

Iaan and I are finally home. We returned from our 50 day trip to Europe last Friday and since then I’ve been trying to get my head around everything that happened on the trip. I’ve been scanning through photos and re-calling all the fantastic memories of the 50 days in 5 countries trip. One of the places we visited, while in Europe, was Den Haag, Holland, where I hosted a two day workshop with some fabulous wedding photographers.

European workshop | Munich

In my journey as a photographer and business owner, I have realized that I will always keep learning wherever the road may lead me. I will NEVER know everything, but what I have learned already and do know, can mean so much more if shared with others.

Along my journey, I have learned to use my camera in a way that makes me feel confident and in control. I’ve also made some stupid mistakes and unfortunately wasted money on unnecessary things. In this journey, I took some detours and here and there, I discovered short cuts. In my business, I’ve created some processes that help me run a smoother operation :) and I try to improve them all the time.

Hamid & Stephanie | Schloss Elmau

As I mentioned before, Germany holds a very special place in my heart and in particular the area around Munich! To visit Munich is always a pleasure and since Iaan and I got engaged there about one year ago, it jumped up to one of my most favourite places in the world. (That is after Cape Town of course :)

This summer I another opportunity to shoot a wedding just outside Munich, in a small village, under the snow covered Alps.

Nina & Phil | Munich

Nina and Phil contacted me before we came to Europe, asking if I could photograph a ‘year after’ shoot for them. Nina and Phil are both Austrian wedding photographers, but they also specialize in interior shots.

On the day of the shoot it was their one year anniversary, as well as Nina’s 30th birthday, which made the shoot even more special! We did the shoot at BMW world in Munich, which is such a spectacular building!

European confessions & Munich WM

One confession coming up…ok maybe a few. (Just to give you some background, we’re on our way to Paris on the Thalys train and we’re going about 300km per hours, with free wifi, so I’m smiling all the way! I really wished we had trains like this in South Africa! )

So back to the confessions…I wanted to blog everyday while in Europe, but that one didn’t happen. So now, I’m actually behind on some blogging, which is not ideal. But at least know know there are some blog posts coming your way :) So confession nr 1: I’m behind on the blog.

Still the sea | photo contribution

Whenever anyone starts their own business, I get very excited! I fell in love with business over the years, as I have experienced that it can be a very creative adventure. As a business owner, you have to think of new ideas, interesting strategies and creative solutions to tell the world about your product or service.

The journey of creating your own brand and building it from the ground up, is a very challenging and fulfilling one. When Liz asked me to be a photo contributor for her new business Still The Sea, I was flattered!
