Let’s catch up over coffee

17 – 21 December I shot 4 weddings in 5 days! That week was definitely the craziest week of 2009. But it was fun all the way. Yes sure it was hectic and very tiring, but definitely worth it! On Wednesday 17th of December I shot Ryan Graham’s (a phenomenal wedding photographer in Cape Town) wedding.

Getha & Llewelynn | engaged

If you get back home after a shoot and edit all the images straight away, you have to know: This was a GOOD shoot! And this is exactly what I did yesterday after coming back form Getha and Llewellyn’s e-session.

Llewellyn is the friend and videographer of Ricky & Marinelle (this is still on my very old blg :), one of my first weddings in Yzerfontein. I met Llewellyn at the wedding and we just clicked. He has such a good sense for business and is a phenomenal entrepreneur

Sample Cards

As a photographer and designer I’ve realized I see things differently than my clients. I believe it’s my responsibility not only to only take good pictures for them, but also to lead them through the process of what to do with the photos. I recently decided to add about 4 square prints with their cd of photos.

Lise & Cara | family shoot

Last week I photographed the Herbst family for their yearly family shoot. I arrived at their beautiful new home and in the door stood Lise and Cara in their pink fairy outfits! Waiting to be photographed.

Help Portrait | South Africa

A few months ago I read about the Help Portrait initiative and it immediately touched me. Help portrait is an international community of photographers that give up one day to give back to the community.

Anli & Roan | Molenvliet

Saturday I had the privilege to shoot Anli & Roan’s wedding at the new venue Molenvliet in Stellenbosch. The couple booked me for an engagement shoot a few months ago and it made such a difference on the wedding day! The interaction between photographer and client was so much more relaxed and I’d definitely encourage couples to look at this option. I have said this before, but by doing an engagement shoot you not only get used to the camera, but you also give your photographer the opportunity to get to know you.

Louise & Roland (Diemersfontein)

Louise and Roland live in Switzerland, but decided to tie the knot over here in South Africa at Diemersfontein Estate in Wellington. They had a very small intimate wedding with some family and friends on the lawn. That day was so boiling hot, that we actually decided to move the ceremony 30 minutes later than originally planned.

Nicola & Wynand (Kleine Valleij)

You’ll probably recognize this couple from my first workshop shoot. Nicola and Wynand are in the same church as me and on Tuesdays we get together with them and some other couples from our church for coffee and to chat about life. Through these get togethers I’ve gotten to know the and we’ve become close friends. They are such a fun and loving couple! It was such a privilege to shoot their wedding on Saturday! And not just any wedding. My 100th wedding!

The wedding was held in Wellington, where Nicola grew up and the reception was held on a stunning new venue Kleine Valleij. The reception area is super white and clean! No curtains or carpets. Just white! White floors & white ceiling! Stunning. It’s like a blank canvas. You can do anything you like with it! (A definite one to check out if you’re still looking for a venue.)

Not only was Nicola a super beautiful bride, but she also has a very good eye for detail and all the decor was just perfect! I love the old books and the French ribbon touch on the tables.

The week before the wedding she emailed me and asked if she could bring a chair as a “prop” for the photos. I love how it created different pose opportunities for the couple shots. We also had some fun with some “nerd glasses” :) Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it was so funny!

Thanks for being so much fun guys! I loved being a part of your special day!
