I absolutely adore Cape Town and I believe it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Im sure Justin and Debbie felt the same way, because they flew out all the way form Australia to have their wedding at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa. The wedding was held on the lawn outside the Hotel, facing the ocean.
Kelly sent me a link to the guesthouse the week before the wedding and boy was I excited! As most of you know I’m crazy about modern and simplistic settings. This guesthouse was like out of my dreams!
One year ago I received an email from Adriaan Pienaar, he was looking for a wedding photographer and at the bottom of his email was his signature that said “Adii: word-press rockstar”. It sounded interesting and even though I had no idea what word-press meant at that time I clicked an found his website.
I love looking at the Wedding Chicks’ blog. It’s a great resource for brides! Filled with fresh ideas.
Last night they even asked me if they can feature Adel and Juan’s wedding. I was totally mind blown! And this morning when I looked on their site is was on the front page! How exciting! They also gave me a “preferred vendor” badge that will go on my new site. (you can also see a sneak preview of my new altered logo…but there is more to come…)
At our meeting Marius told me that he arranged a private house in Lundadno for Maryna to get dressed at and that it was a surprise for her. She and the girls enjoyed a beautiful view over the ocean, while getting ready. Then before I left another surprise arrived for Maryna…a beautiful bangle from Marius. How romantic!
Adam & Fiona had a intimate wedding in Yzerfontein on the 28 of February, with family and friends form literally all over the world! The couple lives in Dubai, her mom lives in the Uk and her sister in Australia!
The week before Fiona and Adam’s wedding, I did an engagement session for them. An engagement session is very relaxed way to get use to the camera, as well as to get to know your photographer and the way he/she works.
About a month ago I received an email that said I was one of the finalists for the Sony Profoto Awards. I was very excited as the Profoto Awards is one of the most prestigious photographic Awards in South Africa.The awards ceremony that was held in Johannesburg on Thursday last week. Iaan and I decided to attend the prize giving and I’m really glad I went. It was great to meet other well known photographers, such as Mario Sales and Nasha Du Preez. We also had a good laugh at the stand up comedian (which was absolutely brilliant! I can’t remember his name…I think his surname was Noah) and the food was great too.
And at the end I received a bronze certificate for my photograph, which I’m quite proud of, considering of 4000 entries, less than 400 photos received prizes.
Earlier this year I had a cancelation for a wedding that would have taken place on the 27th of February. Almarie phoned me just a week after and they were looking for a photographer for the 27th…What a coincidence!
As I mentioned in the post below I do get quite allot of emails where photographers ask me how I edit my images. I don’t see myself as a photographer that over edits my images. I only like to ad a bit of punch to them. When they come straight out of the camera the colour seem to be a bit dull and I like my images to have a touch of SUPER WHITE and some pitch black. I posted these images yesterday and I’d like to show you what a little of editing can do. And by the way, I do 99% of my editing in Adobe Lighroom. I hardly ever go to Photoshop.
