I absolutely love presents! They totally make me smile. To unwrap something and not know what it is…nothing comes to that rush!
Today I received a parcel in the mail and I was so excited! Inside the package was DVD’s from FJS productions and they really impressed me! Their DVD’s are so beautiful! Well designed and makes an impression even before you put it in the DVD player. I’ve seen so many wedding DVD’s with pixilated covers, or even worse a badly designed pixelated cover! As a service provider I believe in staying up to date with trends. Living in the era of ipods, macs and all those other beautiful things, we can’t just forget about packaging, presentation and first impressions.
I’m so excited to FINALLY show of some of my coffee table books. I absolutely adore these two. Some of the photos are from Jayson and Janine’s book and the other ones are from Ryan & Kelly’s wedding. The large books are 25cm x 25cm and the parent books are 12.5cm x 12.5 cm. The books are printed with a digital press process and then hand bound. The clean stylish layout makes these photos pop out and gives them space to breath. I really believe is breathing space in my layouts! These amazing layouts are done by my amazing assistant Adri! Don’t you think they’re gorgeous!!
I recently met Jen on twitter. She’s a photographer form the States. A few weeks ago she tweeted: “I wonder if I’ll ever shoot in South Africa, would love to shoot there!” So I thought I’d help her out to make this dream come true! Because South Africa is such a great destination I believe every photographer should get an opportunity to shoot here! Don’t you think?
The past two weeks I’ve soking up some sun in the very hot and humid Dubai. The temperature ranged between 42 and 46 degrees Celsius! As most of you probably know by now, my parents live out here in the desert.
I found this photo amongst some wedding photos and I love it. To all of you reading this from outside South Africa: See, this is one of the reasons you should come and visit South Africa! And these photos make me excited about my and Iaan’s trip to Botswana this weekend. I’ll be photographing a bush lodge for a whole week.
After an amazing trip in Europe, I’m back home. The day before I left, I decided to leave my laptop at home and only take my camera. Sometimes I have to force myself to get away form the computer, because I think I’m addicted! On my trip I had a good rest from all the demands of [...]
Well this has to be the most beautiful, intimate shots I’ve ever gotten from an engagement shoot. I can’t stop staring at them. Ok, I know this sounds really vain, but hey, I’m aloud to be excited about my photos right??
Today I’ve made a very long list of “things to do”. I only have 2 days to finish sooo many things and I can hardly think how I’m going to get to all of it. But in the back of my head is a very exciting holiday with a friend of mine, that will take place from the 20th of May.. only 14 days to go! We’re going to Paris for 2 weeks and I can hardly wait. At the moment my mind is a mixture of “swine flu! AH!”, “what should I pack?” and “carrying that heavy camera all over the show..but there is no way it’s staying behind!”.
I also have 2 shoots in France that I’m really looking forward to! But you’ll have to wait till I come pack, because there is no editing taking place on this trip!
If you want to follow me on all the trips coming up and see a sneak peak of what’s up, follow me on twitter. It’s great for photographers, to share and learn and just bounce ideas of and to get to know people form all over the world.
The Grand Daddy Hotel is one of my favourite recently discover venues. It has the sense of modern elegance to it. Very urban, clean lines and super city chick! Love it!
On Thusrsday Iaan and I was so lucky to attend the little pink book launch at the Grand Daddy. It was packed with people from the wedding industry. Nikki, Stefan and the rest of the team did a suppurb job!
(The little pink book is a wedding directory guide that promotes quality service in the industry. They only have a limited amount of advertisers and it makes a great gift for a bride to be. Read more about the book on their blog.)
Lizelle helped me out for about 4 months, by assisting and editing. Soon I saw that this girl had much more to offer!! I decided to start advertising her as a second photographer and soon she had 10 weddings booked!
