Whenever iaan and I want to go out for dinner the first place that come to our mind is Cognito Restaurant7 in Stellenbosch. It’s by far the best combination of good food, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
One of the owners, Diani had a little girl a few months ago and so I had the privilege to photograph her. Isn’t she just totally adorable!!
Anna & Dirk celebrated their wedding with friend and family from all around the world on the stunning Grand Provence Estate in Franschhoek.
I could probably tell you their proposal story, but how much better can you get than the bride telling you the story herself :)
In a few hours iaan and I will be on our way to München, Germany to shoot my first international destination wedding! I’m sooo excited to shoot in a totally different part of the world and what a privilege to shoot in one of my favourite: Germany! Just so you know I have a little surprise for you. There is one post scheduled for almost every day until I come back on the 2d of June :) And if you want to follow all my random doings, follow me on Facebook or twitter. So until then, I wouldn’t be answering any emails.
This is just a little note to tell you, you’re on my mind!
I’ve been wanting to type this post for such a long time, but every time I start typing I think: just let go. It’s not worth it! But today a close friend phoned me and after chatting to him I decided I can’t just let go, I need to tell you and warn you. I love blogging about beautiful and uplifting things. I love talking about success, love and awesomeness, but unfortunately this post is not about any of those things. This post is about the opposite.
The other day I spoke to a bride and she told me that she loved the way, how I use to credit service providers on each wedding. I looked at her with a frown and then I realized that many people might not see the special new section on my blog dedicated to all those awesome service providers that make the fairy tale a reality. I’m so sorry that I never pointed this out, but after the re-design of my site I thought everyone just knew…but then I realized that sometimes you need to take a little time and explain. My mind is always living in the future and therefore half of the time I forget to take a moment, breathe and explain. So here it goes…
About a year ago I got booked for Kyle & Salome’s wedding in Durban. The wedding took place over the easter weekend and seeing that I haven’t really spent time in Durban, iaan and I decided to stay in Durban for the whole weekend. And then I indicated the visit to Durban on my online calendar.
Melissa then saw that I was going to be in Durban over that weekend and asked me to shoot her wedding at Lynton Hall. Lynton Hall is about 1 hours drive from Durban on the South Coast. The venue is an old colonial style building with a very lush garden, it looked like fairies could live in those trees. The streaks of sunlight was soooo amazing! The ceremony was held under a huge tree and the reception was under a fairy light lit beduin tent in the garden.
So today I’m going to ask you to do something for me…I need some “vote love” :) I just came across this competition and I decided to cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best. But then I realized crossing fingers and toes is not going to do the job…I need your help. I need some LOVE! So jump on over to the site, fill in a small little form (promise it will take 2 seconds) and then if you think this image deserves to be on the cover of a magazine, give me some love! :)
Giving is one thing I feel very strongly about. I know for a fact I have sooo much to be grateful for and giving back is one thing I can to to help other people. My friend Adii, Mr Rockstar himself, started the Rockstar Foundation a few months ago. This non-profit organization provides full academic bursaries to exceptionally bright young girls from impoverished and disadvantaged communities in Cape Town, South Africa.
Joy Joy Joy. Thats the one thing that comes to my mind when I think of Frances and Graham. Besides good lighting, there is nothing more exciting for me to shoot than happy people!
Frances and Graham tied the knot on Nooitgedacht Estate in Stellenbosch on the 16th of January 2010. The day was a feast of greens and whites and the reception’s decor had the feeling of a European courtyard. Above each table hanged a cluster of ivy and fairy lights, lighting up each table.
