In my journey as a photographer and business owner, I have realized that I will always keep learning wherever the road may lead me. I will NEVER know everything, but what I have learned already and do know, can mean so much more if shared with others.
Along my journey, I have learned to use my camera in a way that makes me feel confident and in control. I’ve also made some stupid mistakes and unfortunately wasted money on unnecessary things. In this journey, I took some detours and here and there, I discovered short cuts. In my business, I’ve created some processes that help me run a smoother operation :) and I try to improve them all the time.
As I mentioned before, June was quite a crazy month for me. And now I just realized I totally forgot to blog the interview Sarie did with me in their June edition. Sarie did an article about Social Media and they asked to interview me about how I use it in my business. Social media is something I totally believe in and it’s something that has meant allot for me in my business.
There I was sitting nervously trying to remember the questions I wanted to ask Carmen & Ingo and I din’t look up to see iaan’s anxious waving hand, trying to tell me I’m already live on KIKI TV! So, if you want to see the absolute failing start to our first KIKI TV show from Europe, you have to watch this one :)
Iaan and I are very excited to announce that we’ll be coming to Germany (Munich), Holland and London this summer! I will be shooting a wedding with the amazing wedding co-ordinator, Doreen Winking in Munich, as well as second shoot a stunning wedding on the island of Mallorca with the fabulous Claire Morgan.
After these two events, Iaan and I will be hosting two workshops in each city. At this stage we’re still planning, but what we can tell you is the dates, content, areas and costs. So if you’re interested in any of these, please email me. There will be limited seats, so booking is essential.
Please Note: This post is for all the photographers out there… so if you’re a bride and only interested in pretty pictures, I suggest you jump on over to the next post :)
I woke up to a very cold and rainy day this morning. It was one of those days where you just want to stay in bed the whole day! Movies, hot chocolate and a snugly blanket! But then my husband, iaan asked me to go for a jog with him. Seriously, a jog? In this cold rainy weather?
I adore my iPhone 4. It’s always with me and when I see a fun or creative photo opportunity I love shooting with it. The reason I love the iPhone so much is because after I’ve snapped the photo, I can do all the editing in the camera with a few clicks and then I have the option to share it online immediately. Here is a few of my favourite shots on the iPhone so far.
I met Holli at WPPI, unfortunately both of us were really sick, so it was more a wave and smile than a long conversation. Afterwards Holli emailed me. She does interviews with photographers on a weekly basis and then shares them on her blog. This week, I’m the lucky photographers :)
Iaan and I had such a fun time in the USA and one of the highlights of the trip was to be interviewed by David Jay on Showit live. We chatted about photography, social media and running your business. Most of the interview was structured around questions photographers had. Iaan and I tried to answer them as [...]
After a 25 hour flight iaan and I finally arrived in the USA :) We arrived in LA at 13:00 (LA time) yesterday. It was a looooong flight and we were really tired, but the excitement of being here was just so much more than being tired. David picked us up from the airport and brought us to his house here in Santa Barbara. (btw, he has such an incredible view here!)
In some or other way iaan and I never get it right to pack our bags in advance. We always end up running around the last few hours before we travel anywhere. But as my friend Monic Dart always reminds me: “The USA also has toothbrushes, jeans and t-shirts, so if you have your passport, you are ready to go.”
So here we are, bags packed and ready to go. Iaan and I are on our way to WPPI 2011. One of the biggest photography get togethers in the world. If you want to read a bit more about this event, read more on the KIKI blog post.
Also a BIG announcement today : The KIKI site just went live!!! We know this is a really strange time to launch as iaan and I will be on a plane for the following 24 hours. And then we’ll probably be really jet lagged, but we just couldn’t hold it back! Iaan worked so hard to get this site live and we’re just to excited to show you what it looks like, so please head on over and have a look around! Please also spread the word to all your other photographer friends!
