When I packed for Europe I decided to leave all my film cameras behind. I went all digital for this trip. Only the iphone (serving the purpose of a polaroid and small point and shoot) and then the big SLR’s. The first day our friends Julia and Nik showed us around Munich and I snapped a few photos with my iphone. I love the instant editing on the iphone!! :) My favourite iphone app is CrossProcess! If you own a iphone, you have to get it!
The past few weeks were crazy. Actually, crazy is an understatement! Seriously so much happened, I thought I wasn’t going to make it. My mind was constantly thinking of so many things, things that had to be done, things that I had to remember, things I had to pack, things I had to organize, I ended up having lists of list. And I wanted to blog about everything, but there was just no time.
Finally here I am. Sitting in Carmen & Ingo’s apartment in München, writing a blog post. I feel like I’m in a movie with a European backdrop. Tying away with a view of all the apartments around us. It’s actually surreal!
Last week I had the privilege to meet Demi & Mario. They are a fabulous couple from Bloemfontien, who have booked me for their wedding later this year. They were down in Cape Town for a little break and so we did their engagement shoot here in the forrest, in Stellenbosch. Lovely lashes, lovely smiles, super sweet! x
Lila & Johan’s wedding is one I’ve been looking forward to, the whole season. I met the couple a few months ago, when they told me about their big day. They explained to me that their wedding was going to take place on Johan’s family farm in Riekeek Kasteel and the details was going to be a combination of warm colours (as we approached winter in May). Within the decor was going to be some fruit from their farm, namely Pomegranates, pears & grapes. Now that sounded deliciously gorgeous to me :)
If you haven’t seen the new South African online wedding magazine, Troukoors, you should definitely pay it a visit. It’s an authentic South African, Afrikaans wedding magazine and some of my photos have been featured, which I’m excited about :) The gorgeous Jayson & Lezanne’s wedding in Johannesburg as well as Nicola & Wynand’s engagement shoot :)
When I opened my calendar earlier this year I saw that iaan’s birthday fell on a weekend. I knew if I didn’t book it out right away, I’d probably get busy with other things and then the lovely opportunity to go away that weekend would be lost. So I looked into some places and decided the west coast would be the place to go.
I have a special connection to the west coast. It’s so clean, beautiful, serene and absolutely a place where you can rest! One of the places I love in particular is Jakkalsfontein.
There is something in a printed magazine that excites us. You know what I mean. The crispy, glossy pages and those yummy bright colours! Printed images still rock! So, today I want to introduce you to the new Designer Wedding Magazine! It’s a brand new magazine by two stunning girls in Johannesburg, Corli & Mariaan. You can read more about the magazine and even stand a chance to win a free copy on www.theprettyblog.com.
If you haven’t seen part one, see it here.
This wedding, like any other, has it’s own story. I love stories! And that’s probably the one thing I love the most about photography; the ability to tell stories. I’m a visual person and the fact that I can put images together to tell a story, makes me happy. One day I’d love to combine great words and awesome grammar, with fabulous images, but for now I’m sticking to images :)
Yesterday I did something I’ve never done before…I posted a ‘I don’t feel that well’ update on Facebook and within minutes there were so many comments!!! Thank you to every person who commented and share something with me that made my day! So if you feel bad and need inspiration here is a little something for you!
