Duan, Lucy & Mia (Wellington)

Lucy was so excited for the shoot, it even excited me :) Their house was spectacular! It is an old farm house and they are renovating it as time goes by. What a pleasure to use for photographs! There were so many props to work with that I took about 900 images! I hardly ever take more than 250 and then normally narrow it down to the best 60 – 80, but Lucy will have at least 150 – 200 stunning ones to choose from!

Fast Track Photographer

Today I received something so exciting! No it’s not a new camera, lens or any other piece of equipment…it’s plain and simple, words on paper and but i believe it will change any photographer’s life!

It’s Dane Sander’s book: Fast Track Photographer. I stumbled on the fast track photographer website a few weeks ago and I saw that Dane wrote this new book…I was immediately interested, because I knew who he was and I’m always so bummed that I can’t attend any of his (or all the other great USA guys’ like JD, Jessica Claire, Jasmine Star) workshops or courses, becasue I’m all the way here in Africa..but now there was a book! YEH!

So I ordered it and hoped that it would arrive asap..

Two brothers @ home

When I do family shoots or shoots of children I always go to the people’s house. I find it works much better, especially because the kids are much more relaxed in their own environment. For a photographer it’s also much more interesting than a studio, because each house is different and you have to be creative with what you have available.

Slow food market

On saturdays there is the greatest little slow food (fresh goods) market in Stellenbosch at Bosman’s Crossing. The market is on from 9am to 2 if I’m correct and they sell lots of food goodies, such as olive oil, organic honey, fruits & vegetables, pestos and sauces, fresh waffles and crêpes, sushi and wine. It’s a great outing [...]
