The Louis Hotel | Munich

Design plays a massive role in the way I look at things. If something is well designed, functional, yet beautiful I just can’t help myself but smile. Design is such a big part in my mind. I just can’t help it. Design makes me excited. Design inspires me. Design makes me think and design makes me super happy! I love clean lines, minimalistic design & natural colours. So when we had the opportunity to stay in the Louis Hotel while in Munich, Germany we both smiled!

Julia & Nik | Munich

Some people you meet, you hang out and you just know they’re going to be your friends. Julia and Nik were exactly those kinda people! The night before the couple shoot they invited us for dinner, to chat and meet each other.

We chatted about the shoot and I asked them what kind of photos they were looking for. They just said relaxed and fun. Then I asked them what kind of things they love to do. What do they like. What makes them, “them”?

Buy a ticket and change a life!

Iaan and I have the most random ideas… here we are in the middle of the night and I’m giggling at the awesomeness of this idea..so here is the deal: We have one extra ticket for the Soccer World Cup game between Netherlands and Cameroon at Green Point Stadium, Cape Town and we want to sell it (by opening an auction for this ticket on my blog) and in the process change some lives. (Not make profit :)

Bafana you made us proud | soccer world cup 2010

Yesterday afternoon a few of us joined a enthusiastic crowd at the Amazink Eatery in Kayamandi, a local township in Stellenbosch. The vibe was totally awesome and I couldn’t help but take some photos. The colours and the excitedment was very vibrant. Amazink is a new restaurant that opend up in Kayamandi and a MUST visit when you’re in the Stellenbosch area. They serve local food, like barbeque (Braai) chicken, pap, wors and some yummy veggies. Well done to Jan and the team from Fanakalo for the stunning interior and design! I love love love it!!

Even though Bafana didn’t make it through to the second round, I think they still did south Africa proud!

Exciting things ahead!!

When I was very young I stuttered. My mom told me the story, I think I was about 2/3 years old so it’s one of those I can’t remember, but apparently it’s true :) My mom took me to a specialist to find out why I was stuttering and to look for a cure. The specialist did some tests and then explained that the reason for the stuttering was that my mind was going faster than my mouth could keep up with.

Hendrik & Frauke Part 1 | München, Germany

A few weeks ago iaan and I flew over to Münich, Germany to shoot Hendrik & Frauke’s wedding. The spring just arrived and Bavaria was covered in yellow flowers. The grass and trees looked like someone took a green paintbrush in Photoshop and swiped it over all the leaves. It was soooo beautiful!

Before the wedding, iaan and I met Hendrik & Frauke for a beer (becasue that’s how they do it in Germany) As they say, there is a first time for everything :)

Annelize & Henk | Molenvliet

It was like I was photographing something from a Coco Chanel movie! Annelize looked like a dream! The details were French inspired, very classic, with touches of blue and her dress and accessories all cream and black. Seriously stunning!

Annelize and I attended the same school and we grew up in the same town. Since school I didn’t see her much, but one day she mailed me for a quote and soon after booked me as her photographer, I was so excited. I knew this was going to be a super stylish. It’s just who she is. Beautiful, stylish, down to earth and so so humble! Henk you’re a super lucky man!

The first day.

I woke up yesterday with a big smile! I sat in bed, I picked up my laptop and then after a few hours I realized it was 14:00! I totally lost track of time, all I was thinking was date, venue, catering, flowers, make-up…for the first time I was on the other side! I realized I’m going to be a bride! :)
