I woke up that morning and it was pouring with rain. Whenever I open the curtains, see the rain and know I’m shooting a wedding, my heart skips a beat. I always feel so bad for the couple. On that one day. Seriously? Why? I prepared myself to tell Katie everything was going to be ok. I wanted to promise her with everything inside of me, that she WILL have awesome photos and everything will be better that she can imagine.

On my way to the room where Katie’s make-up was being done, I heard some giggles and I instantly smiled. It was the noises of some very excited girls. Steven warned me about them. And so it was. They were beyond excited. And so it should be! They were all smiling and giggling and Katie had the biggest smile of them all. There was no need for me to tell her the rain was going to be ok, because she was in the moment. She was getting married. It was her and Steven’s big day and that’s all that mattered!

Fluffy marshmallows, dripping with honey, is not even close enough to explain the sweetness of Katie’s heart. She is one amazing girl! Seriously. And as Steven looked in her eyes, I could see that he was thinking exactly the same thing . She is just awesome beyond words.

Their wedding was held at Allee Bleue Estate in Franschhoek, organised by the wonderful Marius from Weddings by Marius. The tent was a white, elegant affair with touches of green and candles. And they were surrounded with friends and family from all over the world. People might think fairy tales do not exist, but I believe it truly does. I see them all the time. And Katie and Steven is living theirs.
