My heart is broken. Can’t really describe the feeling. All I know is everything is gone.
My dad phoned us in the morning to tell us they broke into our new house. Iaan and I just moved there a week ago and things were still half unpacked. But now EVERYTHING is gone. All electronics, all cameras, all lenses, all my hard drives. Our tv, all my jewelery & engagement ring, some of our kitchen and every single thing in our offices. (except my laptop that I had with me)
At this moment I’m kinda lost for words and my thoughts are all jumbled up. Our new house. Privacy. Security complex. All our stuff. Stuff that’s personal. All our traveling and personal photos. All my photos from my career. Everything I’ve ever worked for. Gone.
Basically I just want to ask, if you see anything that was in my kit or any of my western digital hard drives for sale (or my engagement ring) online or in a cash converters or cash crusaders, please let me know.
Also a R10 000 reward will be paid to anyone that returns my harddrives and data. Please spread the word. Even if they return it anonymous. All hard drives were stored in a plastic see through crate with lime green handles. All hard drives were western digital. +- 15 powered ones (the size of a brick and +- 12 small black ones.

I had all my jewellery worth over 350 000 stolen a few years ago in Constantia Cape Town, my heart was broken too and in fact I dont even like to talk about it, the price you pay to live there – for us it was just not worth it. I do hope you get your stuff back. Try having a polygraph test done on the security staff. xx

which security complex was this? they should have security camera footage and logs of everyone that entered and exited in that time.

You should call all the cash converters and cash crusaders, in and around CT and contact bid or buy and gumtree, to keep an eye open for you. I’m sure they would be able to let you know if any of those items come on the market.

I am so terribly sad and angry at the same time. Please know that I’m praying that the kindness of strangers brings back all that you lost. Although I am in the USA I tweeted this post in hopes that somehow some way it reaches someone who will do the right thing.
where did this happen? sorry to hear about your loss, and i sincerely hope the authorities catch the responsible party / parties!
do you have a neighbourhood watch? check with them if they have license plate recognition camera’s in place (these are usually well hidden from plain sight).

I wanted to share with you a site that may help you recover at least your camera. http://www.stolencamerafinder.com it works by matching the exif date and serial number in your camera with ANY picture in the internet!! so if the perpetrators upload anything on the web at all you will be able to find it and you don’t need to know the serial number all you have to do is drop a picture you took with your camera onto the site and the rest is super easy! I hope you recover your stuff soon!!

So, perhaps list your items as stolen on that site in the hope that the cash converters/crusaders are looking there.

Sorry to hear this Christine! I know how it feels, got robbed at the office two years ago and had to sell my house because they constantly broke in. Heads up, last break-in I had they caught the bastards. Make sure to inform Apple, Canon, Nikon, about the goods which are stolen…also all your software as this can be traced as soon as they go online for updates. Just be glad you weren’t home and nothing happened to you! All the best and we will all try to help out as much as we can!

Ek verstaan…. Ek en Jacques het na die troue Windhoek toe getrek en 3 maande later is als gesteel! Alle elektronics! Met ‘n gesukkel het die versekering uitbetaal… (wie dink aan versekering na die troue) Weer 3 maande daarna, word daar weer ingebreek en als weer gesteel! Ek was buite myself! Woedend. Dis aaklig wat gebeur het. Ek verstaan. Onthou om te vergewe… hulle weet nie wat hulle doen nie.
