Anders & Cristal | Surprise wedding

It’s was one of those weddings where I just knew it was going to be a fun one. When you meet the bride and she greets you with a smile, with no worries, no fuss, then you know – this is going to be a fun one! I love relaxed brides. They create some sense of freedom for photographers. They let you be. They let you create. And they let you see.

An then, on top of being an awesome, relaxed couple, this wedding has quite a fun story. Christal and Anders decided to have a surprise wedding on Glen beach in Cape Town, only about a week ago! Yes, one week! Luckily for them, they got hold of Kate from Wedding Concepts to organize the whole thing in only seven days.

Kate lined up all the suppliers and there we were, all sitting in our cars on a Saturday afternoon, waiting for the groom and guests to go for a drink. The ‘drink’ was just a plan to get their two best friends out of the appartment, so that we could all move in and let the magic begin. We helped Cristal to get dressed and then we drove to Camps Bay to surprise their friends, who at this stage knew nothing about the big event!

After the tears of joy and surprised faces, we all moved down to the beach for the ceremony. Amongst high tide and some fresh ocean water all over us, these two great people were married. What a special day!

*Just a little note to all the suppliers, well done! Thanks to my husband iaan for assisting me on such short notice :) And to Anders and Christal, you guys rock!

So grateful for these pictures that capture all the things I wanted to see, except the stray dog and the minister. The whole thing is amazingly beautiful. Sorry you missed the sunset, but it would have not added much. Great accomplishment pulling off the great surprise.
