I could tell by their engagement story that Steven is a very romantic guy! For every anniversary they would take turns in who organizes the event for that year. The tenth year was Steven’s turn, and it being the 10th anniversary, Steven knew this was the year he was going to propose. So he organized a trip away to Hawaii. He wrote a note, to ask her if she would marry him and stuck it in a wine bottle. Then he phoned a helicopter company and asked them to take them on a trip over the volcanos. Before the trip, he asked the pilot to hide the bottle on a private beach. At this stage Janaine still didn’t know anything!
On the way to the Volcano’s the pilot had to think of something as an excuse why they were going to land on a beach, as this was not part of the normal routine. The then mentioned that there was something wrong with the engine (which was his great idea of thinking of an excuse to land, but it totally freaked out Janiane! :) After they landed on the private beach, Steven took Janine for a walk to calm down. As they walked they came across the message in a bottle. And that’s how he proposed! A real fairytale!
