He feels about his shoes, the way I feel about my jeans. Unless it says ‘black tie’, you wear it with EVERYTHING you can. When you go shopping for an alternative or replacement, you never find something quite as comfortable as the ones you already have. It’s been worn in. It carries a part of you. But then he pitched up at a dinner party with those shoes. I looked at him and he knew what I was thinking. He gave me that guilty smile and then I said it: “You seriously need new shoes!”
Since I’ve known iaan, he had those sneakers. They are worn. I know “worn” is a style, but that worn? I don’t think so.
We went on a mission for a few months. And believe me, it was a mission! If there was a shop with shoes, we were there…and then Sunday, eventually, I saw the perfect pair of shoes. Ones he could actually wear (with jeans) to a dinner party and look decent. He liked them…which was an achievement in itself and they had his size. When he tried them on, I almost did my happy dance. WE FOUND SHOES! There was no conversation, only a huge smile and then I told the shop assistant: “We’ll take them. Definitely, we’ll take them.”
While we were standing at the till we saw ‘love’ stickers, with that little thumbs-up sign. Recognising that little sign, we knew it referred to the Facebook ‘like’. The shop assistant explained to us that they had a competition for February. Apparently all you have to so is upload a photo with the sticker onto their FB page and the one with the most “likes” can win a prize.
So, if you ‘like’ this story, you might want to go and ‘like’ our photo on the Old Khaki Facebook page and who knows, we might just win a little something or maybe get iaan a second pair of shoes :)

LOVE Old Khaki se skoene! Wynand het so paar Puma sneakers gehad. Ek glo egter as jy getroud is gee dit jou die reg om sy skoene te laat “verdwyn”.
This rocks my socks!!! =D
I definitely LIKE!
