It all began when I realised that photography can be a really lonely industry. It’s you, your camera and your computer. You’re not sure where to start, what to do and choosing the right lens freaks you out! And when you phone a friend and she really doesn’t know what you’re talking about :) So I decided things needed to change. We all need friends in the photography industry…You need people to support you, encourage you and help you grow. In the past few years, I’ve been very fortunate to become friends with some really talented photographers, but most of all, awesome people! (you know who you are :)
I love sharing, helping and connecting people!
While iaan and I were working on the model for KIKI and all the aspects of it, we’ve realised that meeting REAL people is a very important part. It’s crucial to know that there is actually a real person on the other side of that Facebook profile and not just a few pixels. So we started KIKI meetups!
A KIKI meetup is a social get-together for photographers to mingle, share and make friends :) The KIKI London group has been going for about six months and it’s been such a joy seeing everything they’re doing over there! (Tanya, you’re a star!!) Johannesburg had their first meetup in January and now it was time to start the Western Cape meetup.
I started an event on Facebook, hoping 10 to 20 people would pitch, but to our surprise 70 people attended between Friday and Saturday!! 70 people!! What an absolute joy to know people are so open to share and learn!
If you want to become a part of KIKI join our Facebook groups here:

Here are some photos of the Friday meetup, sorry guys, I totally forgot my camera for Saturday! :( The two photos of me were taken by Charlene Hall.
I’m not so fond of that funny turtle neck I’m pulling there :)
Showing a preview of the KIKI website and that funny face is begging iaan so make sure it goes live by next Monday :)

Had such a lovely morning at the KIKI Western Cape meetup on Friday!! Met such wonderful people and made some new friends! :) Thanks to Christine & Iaan for creating Kiki and sharing their knowledge with us! :) Can’t wait for the next one! :)
Thank you!!! – it was great Friday – I’m inspired!!! 30% photo fun and 70% business from now!!!!!!!!! …and many more focussed stuff!!!!
