Exciting things ahead!!

When I was very young I stuttered. My mom told me the story, I think I was about 2/3 years old so it’s one of those I can’t remember, but apparently it’s true :) My mom took me to a specialist to find out why I was stuttering and to look for a cure. The specialist did some tests and then explained that the reason for the stuttering was that my mind was going faster than my mouth could keep up with. In a way my thoughts were running away with me and I wasn’t able to express what I was thinking. Luckily I’ve overcome stuttering, but I still talk REALLY fast! Afrikaans more so than English. I think it’s because in English I still have to think a lot, with Afrikaans I just go! I think the main reason for my fast pace is because I get so excited I just cant keep it in! And then I just roll with it :)

In some way I just can’t slow down, I’m just to excited about new things! I love being busy, my mind is constantly busy, thinking and making plans. In some way I see it as gift. But I have to admit it can be very tiring :)

After the wedding in Germany I felt like I just had to slow down a bit, think and get all my ducks in a row. I know I’ve been VERY and I mean VERY bad with email response the past few weeks. My blogging has been a bit slow too, but I’m actively trying to catch up. So a big apology to everyone that has been waiting.

Appart from shooting iaan and I have been very busy planning some new ideas and after months of work, things are coming together..here is a few super exciting things I’m busy with at the moment…more info to come soon:

  1. I’m getting married!!!! I’m planning my own wedding…seriously, all brides, I salute you! It’s sooo much more work than I imagined! But super exciting…all the planning will be shared on (nr2.) The Pretty Blog our new wedding blog that will be launching very soon!!
  2. It’s been a long dream and it’s almost ready: The Pretty Blog will be launching soon. A blog filled with wedding inspiration, tips, ideas and lots and lots of pretty things! Head over to the site to sign up for our newsletter. You can “like” our facebook page if you’d like to share in all the prettyness! At this stage we’re shining up our shoes…so if you’d like to be featured or you would like to advertise, please email nicola. (limited space available)
  3. I’m woking on some more workshops. I’m not exactly sure where I’ll be hosting, but the posibilities are London, New York, Cape Town, Johannesburg & Durban. The dates are more likely to be in August for NY and London and September for SA cities. Before I announce the final dates, I’d like to see how many people are interested. Have a look at my FB page and cast your vote for your city!
  4. KIKI – some of you might have seen some info on our facebook page. But apart from my love for weddings. I also have a BIG love for photographers! I’ve had the privilege to meet some amazing people the past few years and I would love to continue encouraging people to follow their dream. KIKI is a place where people can share, encourage and uplift one another. A place where photographers can build a community. (KIKI is still in the development stages but we are thinking of the following areas, please let us know what you think…this is for you!! So we need your feedback!!)
  • KIKI community: a photography playground, similar to a forum
  • KIKI blog: some random photography thoughts
  • KIKI school: Online learning from anywhere in the world.
  • KIKI resources: LR Presets, legal documents, Photoshop actions, WP-plugins and more fun stuff.
  • KIKI websites: In collaboration with PlusPlusMinus, we’re launching awesome WP website & blog templates especially for photographers.
  • KIKI outreach: Teaching photography to underprivileged children in Africa.

Happy tuesday!

excited

Why don’t you host a workshop in Badplaas? The surrounds are awesome & we have accommodation available. Only 270km from Johannesburg & Pretoria, easy 2h30 drive.

I can’t wait for your Kiki project! You are definitely one of my biggest idols!

    Hi daar!

Ek dink KIKI is ‘n wonderlike idee! Ek hou van die naam… het lanklaas die woord gehoor of gebruik. My man is engels, so dis die taal wat ek die meeste praat.

Laat weet as jy hulp nodig het met enigiets :-)

    Greetings :)

I’m so looking forward to KIKI! As a newbee photographer, inspiration, tutorials, tips, tricks, and photographers best kept secrets are a few that I can think of, I spend day in and day out going through various blogs, taking in all the inspiration that I can get, if one could find all of this in one, including the places to help with print/hire/book albums. Oh and lightroom, thank you to you for introducing lightroom to me, but i’m still clueless…… :(
And i’m sure I can never learn enough, so a workshop is on my list to go to!!!!!

What would the chances be for newbees like me, a place where if photographers need help with extra hands, helping hold up a light bouncer that (us) newbees can put our name up to be helpers :)

    Looking forward to everything :)

@Sharon, sounds like a good idea, I’ll think about it :)

@Dominik, your photos rock!! Everyone have a look!!

@candice, the forum will have a section for aspiring assistants/photographers, where you can put your name on the list and it will also serve as a place where photographers can look for assistants. :)

Wow super busy! Keep in mind the August is one of the more busy months here in the UK for weddings. If you do a workshop during that time then ensure that it is during the week and not over a weekend.
