This was no ordinary engagement shoot! In fact it was out of this world! Claudia phoned me to enquire about an engagement shoot and we spoke for about 30 minutes! I could hear that she was passionate about photos and that this shoot meant a lot to her. She told me that she and Ricky were both photographers and that she specialized in children and family portraits and Ricky in horse race photography. Their wedding is only due next year, but the planning has started a long time ago! In fact in 2007.

Claudia told me the story: “The actual story started on the day before my 21st birthday. Ricky and I were on the Greek Island of Santorini, Greece, aboard an 18th century style-like boat cruising into the sunset, listening to the soft music of a saxophone, myself and Ricky were romantically watching the beautiful sunset… as the sun was setting Ricky looked at me and said “tha me padreftis”
I looked at him confused and he said it again, this time really looking confused, he said it a third time, but this time he said it in English, WILL YOU MARRY ME…..Being the amazing man he is, he caught our special moment on video.

Who could say no to that! So the idea with the engagement shoot was to create a vintage, but stylish look and something that brought out the idea the they were both photographers…

The location was very important and after a long search we found the ideal place! A friend’s house Christine Benz, who is an interior designer. Claudia arrived with 3 suitcases of clothes and accessories. At first I was a bit overwhelmed, but then I saw the most beautiful dress designed by Kobus Dippenaar and I knew that was it! I almost did the entire shoot with that dress. It just suited Claudia perfectly! See the photos on the next post.
