I’m not sure if this is my first wedding of the 2010 season or the last of the 2009 one? I think I’ll call it my first, seeing I’ve already been on my winter vacation and getting ready for all the up and coming weddings and engagements.
I’ve been corresponding with Lena via email for the last few months and even before we met in person I could tell Lena was going to be a sweetheart. She is such a fun person, she was smiling all day and I could see she has a huge heart!Lena and Rune are both archaeologist. They studied here in Stellenbosch and they both spent a few years in Cape Town, where after they returned to Norway. When it came to deciding on the venue for their wedding, they decided on Mountain Shadows in Paarl. A beautiful, family run estate.
Over some coffee I asked them why they chose South Africa over Norway and then Lena explained that they loved good food and that when she stayed in Cape Town she’d always walk past Charly’s Bakery. She then said that there was just no place in Norway that made the same delicious chocolate cake as Charly’s Bakery! You’ve got to love that story! Priceless.
The cake was cut with one of their archeology tools..I really can’t think of the name now LOL but you can see a picture below…Pictures are better than words anyway :)
As a surprise for the guests, Lena and Rune added an African element to their wedding, by inviting a group of gumboot dancers to preform a dance.I love this landscape shot! The weather was freezing and poor Lena was walking around with no sleeves, but the cold was worth it! Thank you to Michelle Hendriks for assisting me!
