I recently met Jen on twitter. She’s a photographer form the States. A few weeks ago she tweeted: “I wonder if I’ll ever shoot in South Africa, would love to shoot there!” So I thought I’d help her out to make this dream come true! Because South Africa is such a great destination I believe every photographer should get an opportunity to shoot here! Don’t you think?

Jen said that she’s willing to give a very good rate for any weddings from November 2009 – February 2010.

I’ve been receiving so many double enquiries for summer 2009 and I know most of the photographers I refer to are booked up too, so if you know of anyone still looking for a professional wedding photographer, check out Jen’s site.

Meet Jen form JK photography:

Where do you come from?
I currently reside in the state of Michigan but my home town is Seattle where I grew up. I hope to one day make the move back and raise a family!

How did you end up as a photographer?
To be totally honest I had never even thought of being a wedding photographer when I was in school. My dream as a child was to be a photo-journalist for National Geographic or Time Life magazine. Towards the end of my schooling one of my classmates asked me if I would help her shoot a wedding. I was hooked on weddings from that moment on! I love everything about wedding photography and the uniqueness my couples bring into it to make it special! I get to spend the happiest day of someone lives with them, I can’t think of a bigger honor :)

Why would you like to shoot in South Africa?
Since I was a little girl I have loved to travel. This career has taken me all over the world for weddings and South Africa is a place that has intrigued me for as long as I can remember. Every time I see a travel channel special or magazine article on South Africa I think to myself how amazing this country, so full of life beauty. I would love to be able to show my readers this amazing land!

What is your favorite part of a wedding?
Oh boy, that’s hard to narrow down! I actually enjoy all the parts of a wedding (like when the girls are at the salon in the morning, or the moment right before the bride walks down the aisle and smiles at her dad) but if I had to choose I would say my favorite moment is after the ceremony when I tell the couple “ok, go stand next to your husband/wife” and the look on their face when I say that is priceless every time! Its like they just realized that they are officially married, and I get to capture that look! I get goose bumps just thinking of it!

What tip can you give a bride?
As a recent bride myself and a wedding photographer I can think of a lot of tips for brides. But the one thing I try to tell my brides is to just remember the moment. Right before I walked down the aisle with my dad I kept repeating this in the back of my mind. As we walked towards my husband I looked at all of our friends and family, I saw their smiles and I have never felt more loved in all my life. I hear all to often from my clients that they are so glad that I captured certain moments during their ceremony because they didn’t remember it happening. So tell yourself “remember this moment” and you will. Its the best feeling in the world :)

What tip can you give other photographers?
Just smile :) No matter what happens, just smile! Remember to give your clients a great experience, that is what they will remember about you and that is what they will tell their friends :)
