I met Katinka at the Stellenbosch University’s first year’s camp in 2003. After a few years in res, Katinka and I decided to move in together and share a flat. The highlight of every day was our “kitchen chat sessions” while we cooked some dinner. Those were fun times!
Since then Katinka and Cobus have been living in Johannesburg. A few months ago Katinka came down to Cape Town for a friend’s wedding. Cobus was the best man at the wedding and has some duties to attend to, so Iaan and envited Katinka for a drink. We picked her up and she was smiling from ear to ear. At first I just thought she was really happy to see us, until she screamed really loudly and then burst out: “WE’RE ENGAGED! WE’RE ENGAGED!” (They got engaged the day before) I was so happy for them and since then I’ve been looking forward to seeing my friend in her white dress. Well that day has arrived and here are a few of my favorite ones of the day:
These are beautiful! I love how infectious her smile is. My favourites are the last ones where she’s sitting in the driveway, the b &w 6th from he end, the one by the tree where she has her veil over her face, and the b & w’s against the white brick wall…
