About a month ago I received an email that said I was one of the finalists for the Sony Profoto Awards. I was very excited as the Profoto Awards is one of the most prestigious photographic Awards in South Africa.The awards ceremony that was held in Johannesburg on Thursday last week. Iaan and I decided to attend the prize giving and I’m really glad I went. It was great to meet other well known photographers, such as Mario Sales and Nasha Du Preez. We also had a good laugh at the stand up comedian (which was absolutely brilliant! I can’t remember his name…I think his surname was Noah) and the food was great too.
And at the end I received a bronze certificate for my photograph, which I’m quite proud of, considering of 4000 entries, less than 400 photos received prizes.
I also want to congratulate the following Western Cape photographers for their awards: Stefan from Zara-Zoo, Jules Morgan, Riekert Cloete, Jean Pierre Uys, Eric Uys, Jilga G, Gaven Withers and a special congratulations to Ryan Graham for his Golden award! You guys rock!
