Today I realized that the world is waiting for no one. You either going to sit, try and get all your ducks in a row and then when you wake up see that you’re behind again or you just have to try and juggle all your balls while you’re running the race. Ok, now that sounds scary, but that’s exactly what my past month has been like. In the beginning of January I decided that this year was going to be different. I want get all my work into better systems, draw in more people to help me and have more free time, but in the meanwhile I’ve ended up with non stop phone calls, hundreds of emails waiting for me to be answered and all my clients are waiting for their photos… Wow. I feel like I can hardly breath!
If anyone told me 6 months ago this is how busy I was going to become, I wouldn’t have believed it!
Now this might sound like I’m either depressed about all the work or that I’m boasting, but in fact it’s neither of the two. I just realized how incredibly blessed I am. I’m hearing and reading all these horror stories of people losing their jobs and how the whole world is in shambles because of the economy and here I am showing under with all the work. I have to thank the lord for all the work and that I’m so blessed to live out my dream!
There is one quote I’ve seen many time that is one of my favourite and it reads: WORK is love made visible. I think many time (and I’m preaching to myself here) we see work as something bad, but in reality it’s the greatest gift! It’s something that you are able to do that can change lives, that can make an impact, that can touch people, that can inspire people. Something that you can nurture, teach and see it grow.
I would like to thank you to all the people that have been commenting on my blog and also thank those who have been emailing me, asking questions and uplifting me with compliments. You guys help me through this busy season, like this morning where more than a 100 emails waited for me to be answered and I’m still answering them now :)
Oh, yes and then I also have to thank Adri, my right hand in the studio. She has been assisting me for a year now and has grown so much! She started out with answering mails and making coffee (she make the best in the world!) and now she is my full time editor and also assist me on weddings. Without her I wouldn’t have made it!
I’ll probably be writing a bit more random thoughts on the blog from now on…I’ve actually made a little notebook with thought to write on the blog, but I realized I’l never get to it unless I just start typing. So here are my thoughts of the day :) And many more to come.
Ps. All the best to my fellow photographers, I know what you’re going through with this hectic season! We’ll make it! :) **

Yip – this past 3 days I’ve been in the same boat – so much to do and so little time – and Jan was a quite month (jobs wise!)
You kind of think you need to employ more staff – but them what do you do in the winter season, when there is less work.
The seasonality of our industry is crazy!
All the best for the coming months…
