Image + Texture =?

I just want to show you what is possible if you combine a texture and a photo in Photoshop…textures like the one I used is widely available online.

Firstly I made my photo black and white. To make a good black and white photo, I suggest NOT just simply making the photo grayscale. To grayscale an image makes it very flat! You want to have control over the levels etc, so I normally use the “channel mixer” option in the “adjustment” bar.

Click on the Monochrome and adjust to your taste with the slide bars.

Now get a texture you like..try textureking for great ones.

Now place the texture over the black and white photo. Now click on the texture layer and click on the layer options.

Now select overlay…(or other ones depending on your taste)

Now you can play around with the opacity…
