Back up!

Over the weekend I was the victim of a very unfortunate event! My Canon 5D decided to stop working, just as I started with the bridal portraits! I just froze…looked at the bride, made no scene (as I could see she was already a bit stressed) and asked her to wait as I just quickly “get another lens”. I got my back up camera and then I asked my assistant adri to phone a friend in Stellenbosch to ask if she can bring her camera as a back-up for my back-up :)

I just want to take this moment and stress the importance of a back up camera to all the photographers out there. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BACK UP CAMERA! These things happen without asking for them and you never know when it’s going to happen! To put your business at risk by not having a back-up is not a good idea!

I phoned Canon this morning and they promised me they will try and get my camera fixed and back to me in 24 hours. I hope this is true.

I’ve never experienced such a stressed day in my life, but after lots of prayer I still got amazing shots, that will be posted soon!

Oh boy! A shooter’s nightmare. Glad you made it through to tell the tale.
