I just received my new hand made leather albums that were custom made for me. For the past year I’ve really been struggling to get any simple and good quality albums here in South Africa. I believe there is not just a lack in the quality albums we get here, but also a lack in the variety.

I like things to be designed very simple and practical… I love the “less is more” principle! And that’s the way I want my albums to look like…very clean cut, simple and of good quality.

These albums are made out of black album board with a hard, black leather cover. For now I’ve made two sizes. The one is just big enough to take 24 single 4′ x 6′ photos. These ones are for my family and couple shoots. The other one (see photos below) are big enough to take 50 single 6′ x 9′ (almost A5) photos or a combination of smaller photos.

The 6′ x 9′ album will now become my wedding album. I hope you all like them! You can email me for more information.

I will still be doing the coffee table books, however I realized that the coffee table book is quite expensive for the South African market and that not everyone can afford it straight after the wedding. With this in mind I decided to combine the layout of a coffee table book with the simplicity of a traditional leather album. I believe this is a great alternative to the couples who are not having a coffee table book, as it gives you a bit more than an album with single jumbo photos.

For photographers: As I said above I believe there are many of us that are looking for better albums…Especially as an alternative to old fasioned, fake leather and plastic sleeved albums!

I’m thinking of starting a range, starting with these two sizes, as well as  a A4 landscape size…If any of you might be interested, please comment on this post or email me so that I can get a feeling about the need for something like this.
