When I do family or children shoots I prefer to do the shoot at the client’s home. I find it works much better, because the kids are more relaxed in their own environment, than in an unfamiliar space like a studio. For a photographer it’s also more interesting than a studio, because each house is different and you have to be creative with what you have available. The lighting can also be tricky, but that’s what I love….every challenge makes the photo shoot more interesting. And I always end up learning something :)
I’ve also learned that photographing kids is no joke! Most of the time they don’t want to do what you want them to do, so if you can’t beat them, join them, I say! I just hang around and get the shots that they want to give me…for instance these two…Daneel was just sitting there, staring at me…not really eager to do anything and it made such a cool shot!
How cute is this one…

Hi Christene
These shots are very natural and would definitely be enjoyed by the family. Your depth of field is strong which compliments these faces. Very Good!
I found a link to your site on another blog, and I’m so glad I followed it. Your work is beautiful!
Letia & Jeanette: Thanks for the kind words! Hope to see you here more often!
